meet the Makers behind Xula
Lucy & Marcela are sisters from San Juan Chamula, Chiapas. They both learned to embroider from their mother and are now carrying on the tradition.
In the small community Zinancantan, Chiapas, Pascuala and her family have mastered the art of weaving on a back-strap loom for many generations.
Susana taught her sister-in-law, Elena, how to embroider at the young age of twelve. Since then, Susana has taken Elena under her wing and has taught her to embrace new traditions.
